  • Can I stop by for a visit?
    Absolutely!! We do ask that all visits are by appointment ONLY. Please feel free to make arrangements with us prior to stopping by. Contact us at 803-924-1000 or email us at
  • What size is the ballroom?
    Our spacious ballroom is 5,000 square feet. It is expandable with tents to accommodate larger gatherings, as needed for up to 400-500 people.
  • What if I have more than 200 guests?
    We can accommodate up to 3 outside tents which can hold an additional 200 guests per tent. These tents are then placed next to the main barn so you can grow your guest space, as needed.
  • Is the main barn heated and cooled?
    The bridal and bridesmaid’s suites and the Groom’s Suite are all heated and cooled. The main pavilion has portable heaters.
  • How many restrooms do you have?
    We have ample facilities to accommodate all guests. The main barn features 2 restrooms for women and men. Each includes handicap accessible stalls. The bridal suite has private access to Ladies’ restroom. The groom’s suite has a separate restroom. The vendors have access to a unisex restroom outside the Black Grove Office.
  • Do you have Wi-Fi or high speed internet on site?
    Absolutely! We have high speed internet via accessible Wi-Fi that will be sufficient for guests and vendors alike.
  • Can I decorate?
    Please do! Note: glitter, confetti, and open flames are NOT allowed.
  • Where can we allow dancing?
    Great question. Dancing can be in the barn ballroom and on the 1,200 square foot patio attached to the barn.
  • Where can we place the band and / or DJ?
    There are four locations that the band and / or DJ could be placed that have up to 10 electrical hookups. The four locations are: outside on either the left or right corner of the 1,200 square foot patio and inside on the left or right side of the giant sliding doors in the ballroom.
  • What can we do for send offs?
    Black Grove allows glowsticks, streamers, wedding wands, bells, bubbles, birdseed, rice and sparklers. However, glitter, confetti, and Chinese lanterns are prohibited due to the fire hazard.
  • Do you have a firepit?
    Yes. Actually we have two firepits. One is on the 1,200 square foot patio adjacent to the barn. The other is outside of the Groom Suite.
  • How many bars do you have?
    We have two permanent bars inside of the ballroom. We also have a portable bar that can be positioned on the 1,200 square foot patio for outside bar service.
  • Do you have handicap parking?
    Absolutely! We have spots designated for handicap parking with handicap accessibility to the main barn as well.
  • Is there adequate parking?
    Our parking attendant will direct all guests into our adjacent parking lots and additional pasture parking as needed. We have a separate parking space for handicap accessibility.
  • Do you have a portable stage?
    Yes! We actually have two portable stages that can be used for the wedding ceremony, entertainment, or any other ideas you may have. Please let us know if this is something you may need.
  • Wedding Ceremony Sites
    We have a number of additional locations for your wedding ceremony. Our 3+ acre lake offers a number of spectacular sites for a wedding ceremony. Each site has its own unique view of the lake. Please ask to see our lake sites. This would be an additional $1,500 fee.
  • What are your event venue hours?
    The doors of Black Grove open at 12 p.m. Typical events end at 10 p.m. A fee of $250 per hour will be assessed for non-compliance. All guests and vendors must be off the premises by 11:00 p.m. Due to the turnover of Black Grove events, all deliveries and pickup must be done during the hours of your contracted event, including the clean-up time for the breakdown of all tables, chairs and linens as well as trash removal unless stipulated differently in the contract. A VENUE representative will be at THE VENUE at 12:00 p.m. for all vendor access (photographers, DJ or band, florist and cake delivery).
  • How do I reserve my event date?
    The security deposit and signed contract will confirm and secure your event date. We accept Cash, Check and Credit Card. There is a 4% Credit Card fee.
  • What is the Venue website?
  • What is the alcohol policy?
    All spirits are welcome at The Venue events. A higher deposit will be required if liquor (does not include beer and wine) is served. The Venue will provide contract security personnel from the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office at the renter’s expense. One officer per hundred guests will be required for the event. Cost per officer will be $50.00 per hour for a minimum of 3 hours. The officers will be required for the length of the event. If liquor is served one officer per 75 guests will be required.
  • What is the smoking policy?
    Due to the fire hazard, there is ABSOLUTELY NO smoking in the barn. Smoking areas are designated on the groom’s patio, the sidewalks, and on the gravel driveway. Black Grove reserves the right to ask anyone to extinguish.
  • What policies exist for the vendors?
    We will gladly work with any vendor with an upstanding reputation, proper license, and current business insurance liability policy. All vendor information MUST be approved and filed 30 days prior to your event.
  • Use of Tables and Chairs
    We ask that you only use our tables and chairs on the concrete patios or within the venue ballroom.
